Our founding story

Spencer Dusebout was 16 when he started Hands 4 Others. Watch his TED talk on how he started Hands4Others and grew it into an internationally recognized organization.

The idea behind Hands4Others is more than bringing clean water to every person on the planet - it is for other students to engage in global advocacy and to understand the tangible difference they can make in the world.

WHy Student advocacy?

We believe there is no greater leverage than raising up the next generation of leaders. Take a look at some of our past and present Hands4Others leaders and what they are accomplishing.

Elena Alcarro. Raised money for an entire community in Chiapas, Mexico. Now she has started her own nonprofit called HUMAIN providing aid to impoverished communities in the Dominican Republic. She thanks Hands4Others for helping her grow as a leader and launch HUMAIN

Jake Yonally. Started a "Soccer4Water" chapter at age 12. Soccer4Water was adopted by other communities and collectively they helped bring clean water to multiple communities around the world. He thanks Hands4Others for empowering him to use his love of soccer to make a difference in the world.

Sarah Armstrong. Helped bring clean water to multiple communities around the world. Sarah was elected president at Yale and is pursuing a career in advocacy work. She thanks Hands4Others for giving her the confidence to embrace leadership positions and to not be shy about pursuing change.
